Driver caught on dashcam throwing Rolo wrapper from car window given £80 fine

A driver has had an £80 fine handed out to them after being caught throwing a Rolo wrapper out of their car window in Somerset.

Another motorist reported the litterer after the incident was captured on their dashcam.  The driver handed the film footage to South Somerset District Council, the offender was then found using the offending car's number plate.

After being invited in for an interview under caution, the offender admitted to throwing litter from their car and has now been issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of £80 for the offence.

Councillor Carol Goodall, portfolio holder for environmental health said: "This is a great example of how modern technology is helping local authorities tackle issues such as littering and that if you are willing to commit an offence in public, you'll ultimately pay the price.

"If you see others throwing litter from a car, let the district council know and if possible tell us where it was thrown from and how many people were in the vehicle."

Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, it is an offence to drop or leave litter on the floor, and this includes cigarette butts.

Dropping litter can result in a Fixed Penalty Notice being issued.

Caught on dash cam rolling back accident rear end scam

The Honda driver in front at the lights rolls back a long way in to the car with the dash cam.

This driver in the car with the dash cam was extremely grateful that he had the evidence he needed to prove that he was not at fault and therefore protected from being blamed for this accident.

Minibus misses car by inches - terrifying dashcam footage

Knowing how dash cams make distances people are from your car look further away than they actually were when you watch footage back, this must have been mere inches of a near miss.

This footage was Filmed on a notoriously dangerous road (A9 near Blair Atholl), the footage shows a minibus just avoiding an oncoming car.

The near-miss, posted on the Aberdeen Dash Cam Facebook page, the Daily Record claims the van which has the camera in it is doing 50mph when out of nowhere the minibus overtakes and just avoids an oncoming car.

Rikki Evans commented on Facebook: "The people in that car would have not stood a chance. That would have been an instant fatal. Stupid impatient driver!!"

Protect yourself from idiots like this who if an accident had occurred would have tried to claim that you went in to the back of them through no fault of their own firmly pinning the blame on you!!

Two in Five 'Considering a Dash Cam'

Road Vision
According to new research from the RAC, TWO IN five UK drivers are thinking about installing a dashboard camera.

26% of motorists (thats over a quarter!) think the UK should take the lead in combating 'crash-for-cash' scams, where people deliberately cause crashes in such a way as to make it appear that the other driver was at fault, before claiming large sums of compensation.

The RAC's research shows that 71% of the more than 1,600 drivers it polled believe that introducing in-car cameras would help to cut fraudulent car insurance claims. 39% said they were thinking about installing a dash-cam, just 4% of drivers actually have one at the moment.

Of that 4%, almost three in five (59%) said the main reason they installed it was to record what happened in the event of an accident, with 21% specifically wanting to protect themselves against crash-for-cash scams.

The RAC quotes statistics from the Association of British Insurers describing a 34% increase in bogus car insurance claims in 2013.

The company's head of external affairs, Pete Williams, said: “Accident cameras or in-car cameras are commonplace in some countries where unscrupulous driving practices are a more regular occurrence.
“With ‘crash-for-cash’ crimes unfortunately becoming more prevalent on UK roads, motorists are looking to in-car cameras to protect themselves from being taken advantage of.”
Elsewhere in the study, 72% of respondents said they would consider installing a dash-cam if it brought them lower insurance premiums, and 70% said they thought an increased number of dash-cam installations would reduce fraud.

Kid Riding Bike Hits Car - Caught on Dash Cam ( kid ok )

Every drivers worst nightmare ending up with a kid on their car bonet. Firstly thank goodness the child was ok, secondly thank goodness this driver had a dash cam to prove that he wasnt speeding round the caravan park had things not turned out so great

A Child riding a bike in a Caravan park flies around a blind corner into the bonnet of a vehicle with a dash camera. I certainly think that that child has learnt a valuable lesson about blind corners and
about sticking to the left side of the road.
